The Rubanda District Communities Neighboring Bwindi-Mgahinga National Park have received rain water harvesting tanks from the Uganda Wild Life Authority. The 339 water tanks with a holding capacity of 1500 litres were procured with part of the Ugx 800 million released by UWA to Rubanda District, in line with the revenue sharing policy under which National Parks share a portion of their earnings with local governments within their boundaries. The money is released to the District Accounts, and in turn the District drafts budgets in collaboration with Lower Local Authorities whose Sub counties/town councils have boundaries with the National Parks. Transport along Rwenshama road in Queen Elizabeth national park, Bwambara sub county, Rukungiri district has been paralyzed after the rising water levels from river Nchwera cut off the road at around 10am. According to Keneth Niwagaba the Rweshama parish chairperson in Bwambara Sub County, most of the water in river Nchwera originates from Kiyanga and Bitereko sub counties in Mitooma district that feeds the river that in turn pours it in Lake Edward. The Office of Uganda’s Prime Minister has delivered 10,000 Kgs of beans and 100 PCs of tarpaulins as relief to Bwambara Sub County residents. This was revealed by Stephen Bewayo Nsubuga the Rukungiri Resident District commissioner stressing that the arrangements are being made to deliver them to the intended beneficiaries. “This afternoon, the OPM delivered 20,000kgs of maize flour, 10,000kgs of beans and 100 PCs of tarpaulins at the district HQs for the people who were affected by the heavy floods that burst River Rushaya in Bwambara Sub county- Rukungiri. Police in Kampala has cordoned off and started investigations into circumstances under which a moneylender of Indian decent was gunned down along Parliamentary Avenue on Friday afternoon. It is alleged that an assassin reportedly clad in a police attire at Yako bank on Parliamentary Avenue attacked the unknown Indian opened fire and killed one of the employees, before fleeing. However, details of the incident remain sketchy until an official police statement is released. Police have since cordoned off the scene as investigations commence. Police are yet to give an official communication on the matter.

Two people on Thursday evening May 11th 2023 died on spot in Rukungiri town after a motor accident that involved three vehicles. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Development Hon Dr Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu has launched the Uganda Women in Energy Extractives Network Initiative. This comes at a time when Uganda is implementing initiatives to enhance women’s access to clean energy in the form of energy-efficient cooking stoves and home lighting solutions, which will accelerate progress toward gender equality and increase women’s participation in the economy. The Police in Mbarara City on Wednesday, 10th May, 2023 at around 5pm registered a case of sudden death of a passenger aboard Trinity Express bus registration number RAD 639G. The bus in which the passenger died from was travelling from Kigali Rwanda to Kampala and the body was immediately conveyed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary. ASP Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson identified the deceased as as Nandujja Hadijjah a 36 year old businesswoman, resident of Lungujja, Kampala who has been working in Kigali Rwanda The deceased’s cause of death was yet to be ascertained as Police awaited for a postmortem report to confirm.
