Today, at MWC Barcelona 2023, Botswana's Debswana and Huawei jointly announced the world's first 5G-oriented smart diamond mine project. Debswana's Head of Information Management Molemisi Nelson Sechaba said that the Huawei-enabled smart mine solution has been deployed at Debswana's Jwaneng open-pit diamond mine, and the project started operation in December 2021. Huawei's 4G eLTE private network solution provides stable connectivity for the Jwaneng mine, connecting more than 260 pieces of equipment, including drilling rigs, excavators, heavy trucks, and pickup trucks. Shock as a primary school teacher  died in lake Bunyonyi.

A Primary school teacher has drowned in water as he struggled to swim back to the dock at Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale district. The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate identified the deceased as Ochet Christopher 27, a teacher at Genesis Nursery and primary school Kekubo in Kabale Municipality. The incident happened on Sunday 26th Feb 2023 at around 7:30Am after the deceased signed out with some pupils for morning jogging up to the lake and later opted to swim but on his way back to the Dock, he failed to make it to the shore. Rwandan President Paul Kagame has sacked the all-powerful police chief, Dan Munyuza. In a statement issued on Monday night by the Prime Minister , Kagame appointed Felix Namuhoranye to replace Munyuza. Namuhoranye has been serving as the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations. Namurohanye previously served as Commandant National Police College. Munyuza, a controversial figure, took over as police chief from Emmanuel Gasana in 2018. He had served as Police’s head of operations. The Bank of Uganda (BoU) has dismissed claims of selling off the governor’s residence as untrue. On Monday, shared a bid notice, BoU announcing the disposal of two assets; Plot 7-9 Elizabeth Avenue in Kololo and Plot 41 Kampala-Masaka Road. BoU had invited bidders to inspect these assets in the period February 22, 2023, to March 14, 2023. The Mukono Chief magistrates court has charged Indian investor Singh Sher Shekhawat with forcing a female friend to apply for a job. Singh Sher Shekhawat was charged before Judge Mukoye Maureen of the Mukono grade one, with one count of sexually forcing a woman without her consent, contrary to the Ugandan constitution section 123 and 124.
