The traffic police officer who was shot on Sunday evening by a UPDF soldier has been amputated at Victoria hospital in Kampala after the bullet shattered his left leg. Mukebezi was shot in Ntinda while trying to tow a Toyota Prado TX military vehicle with registration number H4DF 1391 that had been involved in an accident. Meanwhile, Police and the UPDF are still searching for the suspect who they say is still on the run. Jacob Siminyu, said several former ministers and MPs are illegally holding diplomatic and official passports yet they lost such statuses. Siminyu explains that an MP acquires an official passport only when he or she is still a serving legislator. Three family members in Nsangi were electrocuted after touching a live electric wire this morning, police have confirmed. The incident took place in Kasenge Trading Centre at around 7am in the morning. Kampala Police spokesman Luke Owoyesigire identified the deceased as Asimmwe Babirye, 35, Annet, 24, and Jeremiah Sekalenzi, 5. Among the pardoned prisoners is Venezuelan national Toralys Rodriguez Fagundez who has been in Luzira prison since 2018 on charges of drug trafficking, Rodriguez was arrested upon arrival at Entebbe international Airport aboard Ethiopian Airline on June 17, 2018 in possession of suspected cocaine. President Yoweri Museveni has exercised Article 121(1)(a) of the constitution to pardon 79 prisoners. Museveni signed the pardon, which was based on public health and humanitarian grounds, on Jan 3. “In exercise of the power vest in me under Article 121(1) (a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and on the advice of the Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy, I hereby grant pardon to these persons,” reads Museveni's letter. Tears and grief engulfed parents of New Crest junior school in Kawempe and St John's School in Kyotera, following the death of their children in the fire out break. The territorial police are still investigating to ascertain the cause of the fire. Apparently the fire started at around 3am today (15/01/2022) from one of the female pupils’ dormitories.
