The court said it had found Philippe Hategekimana, 66, guilty of nearly all the charges against him. A 56-year-old man from Ibanda district in western Uganda has committed suicide after brutally murdering his wife. The man, Bernard Muhwezi, allegedly killed his wife, Octavia Atuhaire, following a dispute over money. According to Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region police spokesperson, Muhwezi and Atuhaire had been arguing about money that Muhwezi had earned from selling over 100 kilograms of coffee. The argument escalated, and Muhwezi eventually killed Atuhaire. After killing his wife, Muhwezi hid in the nearby bushes. Later that night, when most people in the area were asleep, he hanged himself from a tree. Four Lira councillors have been arrested for allegedly locking the main gate to the district headquarters in protest over non-payment of their allowances.
