Man arrested for assembling explosives.

Police in Banda have arrested a man allegedly responsible for assembling an explosive device that accidentally detonated during tampering. The incident prompted the area to be cordoned off as a safety measure while the suspect was apprehended. According to Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the arrested man was found in possession of various bomb-making materials, including jerrycans of nitric acid, methanol, ethanol, textbooks, and other items. Enanga stated, “He had taken steps and constructed two IEDs, one of which went off mistakenly after he tampered with it at night.” The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation to determine any potential links to terror groups.

Guard Arrested for Shooting businesswoman dead.

Security personnel have arrested a private security guard for allegedly shooting a businesswoman dead. The incident happened on Friday night at Bugolobi, Nakawa Division, in Kampala. The deceased has since been identified as Zainabu Mutesi while the suspect is Arode Aijuka. Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, said Aijuka who is an employee of Security Plus Ltd, developed a quarrel with Mutesi at around 9 pm. Owoyesigyire said Mutesi who was 48 years old was killed by a single bullet discharged by Aijuka inside Bugolobi market. Veteran political activists, Col Rtd Dr. Kizza Besigye has responded to Court’s warrant of arrest, telling the Courts to arrest him instead. Earlier, Buganda Road Court issued an arrest warrant against Besigye and his accomplice, Lubega Mukaku. They are battling charges of inciting violence, a case coming from their rally in downtown Kampala. In a tweet Thursday afternoon, Besigye says he has not run away as alleged. “Just learnt of the Court hearing this morning! I’ve never run away from the uncountable TRUMPED-UP charges. I am available for arrest, as ordered,” Besigye said.
