Kayunga District RDC, Hajji Nsereko Mutumba has passed on at Rubaga Hospital. Mutumba also previously held the position of the spokesperson of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council which he left in 2020 when his contract expired. The cleric’s cause of death has not yet been revealed. Just about a week ago, Mutumba attended a one week RDC retreat which was held in Kyankwanzi. Those who interacted with him at the close of this event on July 31st say he was vibrant and full of energy. He has been an RDC since March earlier this year.

Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, has suspended Sulaiman Namwoza, a third-year student pursuing Bachelors of Medicine over alleged indiscipline. In a letter dated 1st August 2022, addressed to Namwoza, Prof Nawangwe alleged that the said student convened an online meeting which was attended by former 88th Guild aspirants, intended to push the reinstatement of the Guild leadership. “In the said meeting it is alleged that you made resolutions tantamounting to misinforming fellow students as well as directing the chairperson of the University council to reinstate the student Guild leadership well knowing that council had suspended the students Guild, senior common room, and all student’s leadership structures and had appointed a select committee to review the studen...

Expectant mothers at Maganjo were left all smiles after receiving free mama kits from Fortebet. This activity, which preceded the Kawempe Fortebet-Alex Muhangi soccer tour was led by the company brand ambassador, Alex Muhangi together with the company media relations manager, John Nanyumba and they were received by facility in-charge, Hellen Nakandi. "We have done this a million times before and we'll keep doing it to give back to the community. Fortebet is aware of how much the cost of living has shot up, making life so difficult. For this reason, we decided to buy the kits for you. So, use that money to buy baby nappies," Muhangi noted, while handing over the kits. According to Nakandi, this was a much-needed offer given that the health facility serves mostly low-income earners.

Security was tight at the district headquarters in Kisoro as the Kisoro Electoral Commission finalized the nomination of candidates for the Bukimbiri constituency. Among the five nominated candidates are Eddie Kwizera NRM, James Owebeyi FDC, Jousua Mutabazi NUP, Edward Mutaabazi IND and Asigalirwe Turyagyenda IND. Independent Edward Mutabaazi was amongst the nominees for day two and was followed by followed by Eddie Kwizera Wagahungu who also came accompanied by NRM dignitaries including Hajji Moses Kigongo.
