President Yoweri Museveni who is also the commander in chief of the armed forces has re-appointed Col Deo Akiiki as the substantive Defence and army spokesperson. Col Akiiki’s appointment takes immediate effect as he replaces Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu who had been appointed in the position in June last year. In July, Col Akiiki graduated from the Senior Command and Staff College (SCSC), Kimaka in Jinja City having completed a year’s course in which he excelled as the best student at central lecture hall contributions. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Uganda Airlines, Jennifer Bamuturaki has said she is qualified and experienced to run the airline. Bamuturaki was appearing before the Committee on Commissions Statutory Authorities (COSASE) chaired by Nakawa West Member of Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi on Wednesday, 17 August 2022. She was accompanied by other officials from the airline to respond to queries in the report of the Auditor General for the year ended 2021. During the meeting, Bamuturaki was tasked to present her curriculum vitae to ascertain if she met standards before being appointed as CEO of Uganda Airlines. 4 Arrested over murder of Kamwokya councillor Kakooza.

The special investigations unit (SIU) has so far arrested four suspects in connection to the murder of Kamwokya LC III councillor James Kakooza. Kakooza was trailed and killed while on his routine morning jog by assailants who were riding on a motorcycle along Jinja road near Centenary Park on July 16. Kakooza, who belonged to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, was also one of the four councillors representing Kamwokya parish at Kampala Central Division. He had previously also served as the LC I chairperson of Church Zone.
