Over 2,000 residents in Mukono district have petitioned President Yoweri Museveni to intervene on their being violently evicted and property destruction by a one Nicholas Kabagambe. The residents from the villages of Nkulagirire, Makukuba, and Kaabulo in the sub-county of Nabbale also petitioned the Minister of Lands and Urban Development Minister Judith Nabakooba over the same matter. According to the residents, Kabagambe acquired the land which measures over 680 acres from the family of the late Andrew Guludene. It is alleged that with the help of officials at the Mukono district land offices, Kabakagambe secured a freehold title on the said land and told them to leave or be forced to do so. Buganda road court issues criminal summons against Kawempe north MP. Ssegirinya.

Buganda Road Magistrate's court has issued criminal summons against Kawempe North MP, Muhammad Ssegirinya and his two sureties. Ssegirinya commonly known as 'Mr Update' is accused of inciting violence. The charges originate from a post he made on his Facebook page allegedly cautioning security forces against trying to assassinate theNational Unity Platform (NUP) president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu. According to the post, Ssegirinya cautioned that the aftermath of any such action would be 40 times worse than the 1994 Rwandan genocide in which an estimated one million people were killed in a space of 100 days. The chief magistrate Siena Owomugisha issued the summons after Ssegirinya failed to show up for the second time. He was first summoned on February 10, 2023, but still didn't show up....

The joint forces of UPDF and the Congolese army, FARDC have announced that they have killed at least 20 ADF rebels in Eastern DR Congo. In an operation that saw the joint forces make a surprise attack on an ADF camp in the thick forests South West of River Lusulubi Near River Semuliki -Rwenzori Sector, 20 rebels were put out of action whereas one UPDF soldier was also killed in the shootout. “Four AK 47s, five magazines, solar panels, two combat uniforms of UPDF, seven combat uniforms of FARDC , five charging ports of walkie- talkies, five radios, five batteries, two phones, three back packs, two ponchos and two finishing nets were recovered from ADF,” the UPDF said in a statement. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced that it will be opening a new passport centre in Beijing, China in May as one of the ways to ease issuance and renewal of passports for Ugandans in China. The ministry spokesperson, Simon Mundeyi said the new passport centre will officially be opened on May, 2. “The new passport centre in Beijing will serve Ugandans living and working in that city as well as the entire China and those in nearby Hongkong,” Mundeyi said. Over 30,000 passports have not yet been collected at the passport centre at Kyambogo in Kampala of Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the Internal Affairs spokesperson, Simon Mundeyi, between 20,000 and 30,000 newly printed passports have remained uncollected by owners in the past 2 or 6 years. “These people processed these passports, applied, paid for them, lined up at our offices , we went ahead to process the passports, made them available and are now not being picked. After almost three decades of service, the First Son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has officially announced his retirement from the UPDF army this year.
