Aroho Ahumuza, a two-month-old baby, was being held by her mother in the western Ugandan town of Kagadi when a chimpanzee kidnapped her. The child was suddenly snatched from her mother’s arms by the chimp as it burst out of a bush. After the mother of the child called for assistance, locals arrived. Ahumuza was eventually discovered with significant head wounds. According to Kunihira Kasaija, the victim’s father, the child was found and taken to Kagadi community health center for treatment, but she later passed away. Five students of Winners Secondary School in Hoima City, their director and sports master arrested after football riots, are out on police bond. They were arrested on Wednesday afternoon after student became rowdy following their school’s disqualification from the ongoing Hoima City Uganda Secondary School Sports Association (USSSA) boys football championships. Winners Secondary School had qualified for the tournament’s quarterfinal after eliminating St. Andrea’s Kaahwa SS with a 1-0 scoreline. However, St. Andrea Kaahwa SS petitioned the organizing committee, stating that Winners SS was not licensed with the Ministry of Education and Sports, which is contrary to the new rules. Parliament has started scrutinizing sub-regional oversight reports on the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM), weeks after President Yoweri Museveni’s address to the House. Court has fined Warrant Officer David Okot sh5milllion after being found in unlawful possession of six ostrich eggs. The Standards, Wildlife, and Utilities Court Chief Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu handed down the sentence. Okot risks three years’ imprisonment once he fails to pay the fine. According to the court, while at Petua Garden Katakwi Town Council in Katakwi District on March 10th, 2023, Okot was found in possession of the six ostrich eggs without a wildlife use right. He pleaded guilty and was immediately convicted. Prosecutors argued for a deterrent sentence, stating that the eggs were ready for possible hatching and are currently at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre – UWEC. In an incident of suspected suicide, Makerere University fresh graduate Flavia Nagasha was Thursday found hanging dead in a church in Rwampara District, Western Uganda. Nagasha recently completed her bachelors of business administration at the university. Makerere’s outgoing guild president Lawrence Alionzi condoled on social media suggesting that Nagasha has been battling an undisclosed sickness. “I have learnt with great sorrow about her death. She is said to have been sick for some time. My Heartfelt condolences go to the family, friends and all the Makerereans. May her soul rest in perfect peace," Alionzi wrote.
