During a hearing of the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee to discuss the Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2023, the State Minister for Disability, Hellen Grace Asamo, proposed that provisions be made for the rehabilitation of homosexuals, particularly juveniles, and the creation of special cells within prisons to prevent the spread of homosexuality among other inmates. Asamo stated that “We propose a provision that the Minister responsible for prison services shall provide special facilities to isolate homosexual offences to prevent them from continuing with the practice and protect other inmates from falling victim of homosexual practices.” However, some MPs, such as Fox Odoi, opposed the proposal, arguing that it was draconian and oppressive to the rights of homosexuals. Hannah Tumukunde yesterday 18th March 2023 was crowned the new Miss Uganda turning down other 20 beauty competitors to the crown. Tumukunde, from Nakaseke, belonged to the Central Region pool and came up strongest, ahead of her close competitors Ademun Whitney Martha and Premah Agwang who finished 1st and 2nd runners up respectively. “Thank you, GOD. The crown is finally home, I have been crowned Miss Uganda 2023. The National Water and Sewerage Corporation-NWSC had earmarked 250 million Shillings to boost its supply capacity in Masaka District. Engineer Jackson Nimusiima, the NWSC zonal Manager for Masaka says they are undertaking a project that will enable them to expand their network, to address the current water supply shortages in the area. The multi-billion project which will start in July is part of the 120 million Euros loan, which the government obtained from the French Development Agency-AFD, to finance the South Western Cluster Water and Sanitation Development Project. Nimusiima indicates that the project is going to boost the supply capacity to 24,000 cubic meters per day from the current volume of 8,000 M3 per day. The Office of the President through the Manifesto Implementation Unit (MIU) will hold a manifesto validation and monitoring exercise to track the progress of government programmes lined up in the NRM Manifesto 2021-26 for the Great Northern Uganda.
