During a hearing of the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee to discuss the Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2023, the State Minister for Disability, Hellen Grace Asamo, proposed that provisions be made for the rehabilitation of homosexuals, particularly juveniles, and the creation of special cells within prisons to prevent the spread of homosexuality among other inmates. Asamo stated that “We propose a provision that the Minister responsible for prison services shall provide special facilities to isolate homosexual offences to prevent them from continuing with the practice and protect other inmates from falling victim of homosexual practices.” However, some MPs, such as Fox Odoi, opposed the proposal, arguing that it was draconian and oppressive to the rights of homosexuals. The police in Kabale are investigating the death of PC Komuhangi Caroline, a 23-year-old police officer attached to the Kabale police station’s FFU department. According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, the deceased was allegedly shot by a friend named Denis Arinitwe, who is currently in police custody. On March 18, 2023, at around 6 pm, Caroline signed for a gun and went on duty. She returned from duty the next morning, March 19, 2023, at around 6:30 am and was resting when Denis visited her. Allegedly, the two got into a quarrel, and as Caroline tried to escape outside running, Denis picked up a gun and shot her from the back, once, and twice on the shoulder, killing her on the spot. Hannah Tumukunde yesterday 18th March 2023 was crowned the new Miss Uganda turning down other 20 beauty competitors to the crown. Tumukunde, from Nakaseke, belonged to the Central Region pool and came up strongest, ahead of her close competitors Ademun Whitney Martha and Premah Agwang who finished 1st and 2nd runners up respectively. “Thank you, GOD. The National Water and Sewerage Corporation-NWSC had earmarked 250 million Shillings to boost its supply capacity in Masaka District. Engineer Jackson Nimusiima, the NWSC zonal Manager for Masaka says they are undertaking a project that will enable them to expand their network, to address the current water supply shortages in the area. The multi-billion project which will start in July is part of the 120 million Euros loan, which the government obtained from the French Development Agency-AFD, to finance the South Western Cluster Water and Sanitation Development Project.
