BREAKING NEWS: ‘’FINALLY’’  Mao appointed Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs.

The Democratic Party (DP) president Norbert Mao has been appointed as the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, a day after he brokered a deal with President Museveni. On Thursday afternoon, Museveni used powers vested in him under Articles 113 (1) and 114 (1) of the 1995 Constitution to announce Mao as the new minister in for Justice. The appointment was confirmed by Museveni in a tweet. The appointment comes just a day after the opposition Democratic Party president had met with ruling National Resistance Movement party (NRM) national chairman who is also the president and inked a deal to work together. Opposition leaders have reacted to the working cooperation agreement signed between President Yoweri Museveni and Norbert Mao. Last evening, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party chairman, Museveni, and Democratic Party (DP) president Mao held a meeting at State House, Entebbe. The two parties signed a cooperation agreement. Mao said that the cooperation is a continuation of the journey that started before many of them were born and asked Museveni to make use of the historical opportunity to gather patriots that are scattered all over the country. President Museveni hailed opposition Democratic Party for always being a good party towards the ruling NRM party and government at large. “Although DP has been in the opposition, they have not been destructive. They criticise but are not destructive,” he said. Museveni was speaking on Wednesday after the NRM party to which he is the national chairman signed a working cooperation agreement with the Democratic Party (DP) at State House, Entebbe. The suspects are Ramathan Kirumira, 28, John Kalyango 23, Asuman Kanagodawa, Ismail Ssenkubulwa, Juma Katende 27, Mustafa Zziwa 52, Bulega and Reagan Ndugga 23 amongst others all residents Kasangalabi and Ham Mukasa village in Mukono central division and one from Busembatia district. The ten appeared before Mukono Magistrate Tadeo Muyinda who read out the charges of assault, possession of firearms and attempted murder. Amongst them was Juma Katende was allegedly one of the attackers of Spice Supermarket in Mukono town who injured Annet Ssekandi who was at the counter at the supermarket, he was charged with two counts of assault with a firearm and attempted murder.
