The president of the Democratic Party, Norbert Mao, has insisted that the matter of “political transition” is written all over the cooperation agreement that he signed with President Museveni in July, 2022. Mao’s denial comes days after President Museveni, in an interview with NBS TV, denied that there had been a discussion over political transition in his talks with Mao. In a series of tweets, Mao said at least on DP’s part, political transition was front and centre of the discussion. “Political transitions can be initiated either from within by incumbents or by outside groups. NRM Buganda youth endorse Museveni for 2026.

As the mission to win over the NRM Buganda youths by the Uganda’s presidential hopefuls continues, National Resistance Movement (NRM) youth leaders from Buganda have endorsed President Yoweri Museveni as the sole presidential candidate for the 2026 elections. Museveni, who has been in power for 26 years, has not yet indicated that he will run for 2026. Speaking at a press conference in Masaka city, the NRM youth leaders from Buganda region unanimously agreed and signed a petition to back president Museveni as the sole candidate in the coming elections. The endorsement comes at a time when another section of youth within the NRM has intensified efforts to front the first son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba as their candidate in 2026. The Mukono sugarcane out grower’s cooperative society in Buikwe district, has lashed out at the leadership of the society for misappropriating 600 million shillings which was supposed to cater for their welfare in times of hardships. Over 500 sugarcane farmers and transporters from the districts of Buikwe, Buvuma, Kayunga and Mukono gathered at Kawolo in Buikwe district to analyze the leadership of Paddy Mubiru and Kaana Baraza to explain missing funds and the money from the tractor the government gave them. Exams Starts Amidst Warning Against Malpractices.

Head teachers in secondary schools in Mukono have been warned against examination malpractices during this period as students are sitting for their final exams as it could lead to prosecutions. The warning was sounded by Jovita Kobumanzi the chief scout from the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) while handing over exams to teachers and head teachers at Mukono central police station. Jovita Kobumanzi, Chief Scout from the National Examinations Authority, warned school authorities to avoid submitting an inconsistent number of students as this could lead to disciplinary action.
