EU Allocates €3M to Uganda’s Ebola Fight.

Press Release The EU has mobilised further emergency funding of €3 million to support the response to the Ebola outbreak in Uganda. A statement from the EU delegation in Uganda says part of the funding (€1.5 million) will support the World Health Organisation in its coordination and surveillance activities, safe and dignified burials, as well as logistics and follow-up and care of survivors. Source: VOA Kenya’s police oversight authority is investigating the shooting death of well-known Pakistani investigative journalist Arshad Sharif at a checkpoint on Oct. 23. Police say the shooting of the 50-year-old journalist was a case of mistaken identity. The officers said they mistook the vehicle, driven by Sharif’s brother, for one connected to a child kidnapping in Nairobi. When the car didn’t stop at the checkpoint, they shot at the vehicle. The Kenya Union of Journalists spoke out against the killing of Sharif. Its secretary-general, Charles Eric Oduor, said that police “should not have killed the journalist. Court starts hearing of Besigye and Mukaaku’s case.

The Buganda Road Magistrates Court has started hearing the case in which Dr. Kiiza Besigye, and the former Rubaga South Parliamentary candidate, Samuel Lubega Mukaaku, are accused of inciting violence. The offense stems from their June 14th, 2022 protest against the skyrocketing commodity prices, which nearly doubled in less than a year. The prosecution accuses the dou of staging an illegal assembly in Kikuubo Shauriyako parish, Kampala Central Division where they allegedly made statements indicating that it would be desirable to demonstrate with the aim of causing damage and destruction to property. Shaka kaSenzangakhona, the Zulu king and founder of the Zulu empire, was assassinated at kwaDukuza in 1828 by his two half-brothers Dingane and Mhlangana — one date given is September 24. After the assassination, Dingane took over the throne. Shaka’s Last Words Shaka’s final words have taken on prophetic significance, with popular South African/Zulu legend having him warning Dingane and Mhlangana that “white people who will come up from the sea” will rule the Zulu nation, not them.
