In order to attain the projected National Development Plan and Vision 2040 and to boost economic development, the government, through the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is implementing 14 new power projects in various parts of the country, in a bid to expand the national Transmission Grid. The main objective of these projects is to increase power supply and reliability across the country through expanding the national transmission grid, which is the backbone of Uganda’s Power Systems that transmit electricity from main and small generation sources to the various Load Centres in several parts of the country which in turn supply the power to various consumers. International boxing president set to visit Uganda.

Umar Kremlev, the International Boxing Association (IBA) President is set to visit Uganda, months after retaining office for his second term. Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) President, Moses Muhangi who invited Kremlev told URN that it will be a three-day visit from the 30th of November to the 2nd of December. Umar Kremlev was re-elected as President of IBA unopposed during day two of the IBA Extraordinary Congress held in Turkey in May this year. This came after his only opponent Van der Vorst of the Netherlands was declared ineligible. Muhangi says that Kremlev’s visit will be a boost in their journey to rejuvenate boxing in the country. Residents of Mpata district in Mukono district are still complaining about the government’s lack of attention to them in terms of basic services especially clean piped water but the Katosi water station is pitted against them. At Mawotto, Buule, Ssozi and Mugomba villages, residents have to rent bicycles and boda bodas to get clean water and they all use only one well in the area and here you can find people doing laundry, especially children. Residents, especially parents, said they do not feel comfortable before their children return from the far away bushy spring wells because they fear that they might get problems on their way.
