A policeman in Kyenjojo district has been arrested for shooting at Kyenjojo court magistrate Babu Waiswa in an alleged case of mistaken identity. According to the Rwenzori West police spokesperson Vincent Twesige, it is alleged that on Friday 18, Waiswa was shot at by the police officer in charge of Mukunyu police post only identified as Turyanawe. Twesige explained that Turyanawe was told to stop a car, registration number UBG 770E, which had allegedly knocked a person in Rugombe trading centre. And when the magistrate was approaching Mukunyu police post, he heard gunshots, and out of panic thinking he had been attacked by robbers, he lost control and knocked a pole in Mukunyu Trading Center. Vulnerable Britons, including pregnant women, children and elderly people, have been told to avoid eating runny eggs that have been imported from overseas. The warning comes as supermarkets are seeking to plug gaps in the supply of British eggs by temporarily sourcing eggs from outside the UK. The British Egg Industry Council (BEIC) is urging vulnerable groups to check the labelling cartons before cooking eggs soft-boiled, sunny side up, poached, or any method that results in runny eggs. This is because the Food Standards Agency does not recommend that pregnant women, children and infants, and elderly people eat raw or lightly cooked eggs that are not produced under the British Lion Code of Practice A spokesperson for the BEIC told The Telegraph: “It is very disappointing to see foreig...

Paul Ssemogerere the Archbishop of Kampala has said people are more likely to enter into marriage for wealth rather than its core values such as love, happiness and trust. “Godly marriage is not about sharing property, God created marriage as a lifetime bond between a man and woman. The discussions about sharing of matrimonial property is a sign of greed and depreciation of love amongst the people,” Archbishop Ssemogerere said yesterday during a visit to Buganda Royal Institute in Mengo, Kampala. His remarks come after the Court of Appeal on Tuesday ruled that the spouse’s share in the matrimonial property in case of divorce will be dependent on his or her contribution in the process of acquiring or developing it. The archbishop urged couples to ensure that their marriages are peaceful...

Premier Robinah Nabbanja has asked Kampala Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere to order politics out of the church, or else unhappy believers opt out. She said this during the requiem service for former Democratic Party President and Minister, Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere, who was eulogized by many as a good, clean, loving, forgiving, principled, patriotic, and peace-loving man. Opposition politicians including Dr. Kizza Besigye, the former Forum for Democratic Change-FDC President, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, and former legislator Maria Babirye Kabanda, drew a sharp contrast in the values of the late Ssemogerere and the practice by the current government. First was Lukwago who after speaking about the deceased’s virtues led an attack on the government he accused of abusing the right to association...
