Three people have been arrested in Fort Portal after being allegedly selling rotting meat in Fortportal. The suspects identified as Majid Musisi, Clovis Isingoma and Bashir Rajab were red handedly found selling over 40 kilograms of decomposing meat to residents. Dr. Stanley Businge, the Fort Portal city veterinary officer who also doubles as the city production officer, captured the suspects on Tuesday evening while carrying out an inspection. Businge said that he found the suspects selling the rotten meat from wooden boxes in an isolated bushy area behind Mpanga market. He noted that rotten meat is unfit for human consumption and can result in disease-causing infections when consumed. Parliament approves UGX 523Bn loan for country-wide data connectivity

MPs have unanimously approved a US$140 million loan to finance the Uganda Digital Acceleration Project (UDAP), and ring-fenced it to the implementing agency, National Information Technology Authority-Uganda. Former Democratic Party president-general Paul Kawanga Ssemwogerere has died at the age of 90. He passed away this morning, according to his granddaughter, Agnes Namakula. Namakula says his grandfather passed on at his home in Rubaga. Ssemwogerere was born on February 11, 1932, in Kalangala district. Dr. Paul is one of the key political players in Uganda’s history under the Democratic Party.
