Have Muhoozi’s visits to Kagame really solved Uganda-Rwanda stalemate?

FEATURED, NEWS
Rwandan government has, for several years, accused Uganda of wanting to cause regime change in Kigali, and arresting and detaining Rwandans arbitrarily. Knowing African leaders, I don't think that the case for Rwandans being arbitrarily arrested and detained is so important to Kigali - although it could be legitimate. The issue might be expressed by Rwandans just because it gives Kigali a high moral ground to call out Kampala. But, is Kigali's accusation against Uganda (of wanting to cause regime change in Kigali) true? Well, because of the nature of Uganda's ambition against Rwanda, there's no and perhaps there won't be conclusive evidence that Kampala is interested in causing regime in Kigali. However, we can try to string dots together and see whether there could be some truth in the ...

Museveni said this while mourning Jacob Oulanya at Kololo independence grounds, President Yoweri Museveni has said that if he knew departed Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah’s health condition, he would have advised him not to contest. “That Speakership is dangerous,” Museveni said while speaking as Chief Mourner at Kololo during the State funeral. This was after a speech by medics that revealed that Oulanyah’s health condition deteriorated further when he went for politics ahead of 2021 general polls when he contested as MP for Omoro and later as NRM Vice President in charge of Northern region and later as Speaker of Parliament. Medics argue that given this busy period, Oulanyah did not have time to attend to himself as was advised by the doctors. According to Museveni, he first kne...

If we all speak for our tribes, who will speak for Uganda?

FEATURED, Latest News, NEWS, Politics
By Muhimbise George The death of former Speaker Jacob Oulanya opened the debate of tribalism, sectarianism & nepotism. It was indeed the ugly truth that we must contend with! After Oulanya's death, the MPs from Acholi, Lango and WestNile unanimously demanded that the next Speaker must be from the north lest they would boycott the voting exercise! Although the matter was resolved and they turned up to vote for a non northerner, am sure that whatever was given or promised to them was merely a pain killer and not a medicine to their problem. Ofcourse, the MPs from the North were neither the first nor the last to make such a demand, and so one can't simply blame them without understanding their context. The bakiga from Kabale demanded that the next governor be a Mukiga simply because...
