A group of Kooki Chiefdom loyalists went to Lwamaggwa Sub County and protested against a football match organised by Buganda Kingdom officials on May 20, 2022. The demonstration prompted police to suspend the football tournament on orders of Rakai Resident District commissioner Ms Sarah Kiyimba, suspecting that the games will breed conflict between loyalists from Buganda Kingdom and Kooki chiefdom. Police dispersed football fans who had gathered to watch two games at different playgrounds in the sub counties of Lwamaggwa and Kifamba over the weekend. Businessman Ham Kigundu has appealed to the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga to institute reforms at the Buganda Land Board to tackle alleged fraud by some officials at the organisation. Speaking after a meeting called by the Ministry of Lands to discuss an ongoing conflict between Kiggundu and the Buganda Land Board over land in Kigo, Kiggundu said there were officials at the Buganda Land Board using the Kabaka's name to grab the kingdoms land, and land belonging to ordinary people. Members of Parliament have resolved to involve the International Criminal Police Organization-Interpol, to hunt down Barbara Imaryo, the Uganda Land Commission-ULC secretary who is wanted to face accountability probe. Led by their Committee chairperson Joel Ssenyonyi, the lawmakers on the Parliamentary Commission, Statutory Authority and State Enterprise – COSASE made the resolution during a sectoral meeting on Thursday. This came after Imaryo, for the seventh time snubbed the committee’s summons to appear and answer to queries, among others the irregular compensation payment of 10.6 billion Shillings to six claimants, two of whom are non-existent without the commission’s approval.
