The son of the director of Buwungu UMEA Primary School is believed to have been killed on Sunday morning, and police in the Mpigi District are searching for the school security guard. Before leaving the school grounds, the suspect is said to have killed 10-year-old Rashad Ssekamatte and locked the body inside his room. “The horrific incident happened around 8:00 am when the 25-year-old suspect persuaded Ssekamatte into his room where he murdered him,” stated Majid Karim, a spokeswoman for the Katonga provincial police. The Standards, Utilities and Wildlife Court at Buganda Road has sentenced four (4) illegal loggers to eighteen months in imprisonment. They were arrested by the National Forestry Authority (NFA) law enforcement officers and Environment Police Force in Mabira Central Forest Reserve (CFR) on 28th October 2023. The sentenced loggers are; Gerald Mugisha, Joseph Ssekungu, Michael Anguzu and a one Matovu. The offences were; illegal cutting of trees, illegal charcoal burning and carrying out prohibited activities in the central forest reserve contrary to section 14 (1) (d) and (2) of the National Forestry and Tree Planting Act, 2003. Police in the Rwizi region have apprehended four individuals suspected of stealing vehicle number plates. The arrested individuals are Conrad Mwiine, 24, residing in Rubiri cell, Nyamityobora ward; Geoffrey Muhwezi, 27, residing in Rwentondo cell; Vincent Mwebesa, 25, residing in Rwentondo cell; and Bright Atwijukire, 22, residing in Koranorya, Mbarara city. Singer Edirisa Musuuza alias Eddy Kenzo has claimed that he deserves to be honored with a doctorate in the art business. The BET award winner says he’s done a lot in the arts sector to deserve this special recognition.
