13 Stolen Number Plates Recovered in Rwizi region – police.

Police in the Rwizi region have apprehended four individuals suspected of stealing vehicle number plates.
The arrested individuals are Conrad Mwiine, 24, residing in Rubiri cell, Nyamityobora ward; Geoffrey Muhwezi, 27, residing in Rwentondo cell; Vincent Mwebesa, 25, residing in Rwentondo cell; and Bright Atwijukire, 22, residing in Koranorya, Mbarara city.
According to SP Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson, the arrests were made in connection with numerous cases of stolen vehicle number plates reported at Mbarara central police station and Ruti Police Station.
The modus operandi of the thieves involved stealing the number plates and leaving a note on the targeted vehicle. The note contained a telephone number and instructions for the owner to deposit a specified amount of money if they wished to reclaim their stolen number plates.
During the operation, thirteen stolen number plates were recovered by the police. Kasasira further disclosed that an additional six suspects had previously been apprehended and were currently remanded to Mbarara Main prison.
