Police have arrested Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kakana James, who has been the Officer in Charge of Station Namayingo, for orchestrating a robbery that stole $317,900 (Shs1 billion) at Nakirebe along the Kampala-Masaka Road. The incident happened on September 19, 2023, when a gang of five individuals intercepted a taxi and forcibly took possession of a substantial sum of money. One of the assailants donned in a Police uniform with the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and armed with a pistol, led the criminal operation. GSMA Intelligence has released a white paper titled, "5G FWA in Africa, Emerging Trends and Opportunities". The whitepaper, which was released during the 2023 Africa 5G Summit at AfricaCom, comprehensively analyses the current development trends and future opportunities of 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) services in Africa. The House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda, has elected Ven. Canon Moses Banja as the 6th Bishop of Namirembe Diocese. The election was held at St Stephen’s Cathedral Naluwerere in East Busoga Diocese this afternoon. Ven. Canon Moses Banja will succeed Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalila, who is set to retire on December 8, having reached the mandatory age of 64. Bishop Luwalila has been in the position for 14 years. The consecration and enthronement of Ven. Canon Moses Banja is scheduled to take place on December 10, 2023, at St Paul’s Cathedral, Namirembe.
