Kenyan President, Mr William Ruto has urged his fellow African leaders to prioritise the welfare of their citizens, especially those living in rural areas as they are the most affected by climate change. Ruto says people living in rural areas without real development especially the physically disabled are the most affected by climate change and their plight needs to be prioritized. Speaking this morning on the third and final day of the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, Ruto also urged leaders to prioritize the youth in all their efforts to address climate crises. Ruto is later expected to launch the Nairobi Declaration which will contain resolutions from the 3-day inaugural Africa Climate Summit. The conference is expected to consolidate Africa’s voices ahead of COP28.

The Democratic Party (DP) has asked security agencies to use its intelligence to identify terrorists before carrying out an attack on the country. DP’s call comes in the wake of terror threats following Sunday’s incident where Police safely detonated a bomb at Pastor Kayanja’s church in Rubaga. Security agencies also detonated two more bombs in Bunamwaya and Nateete on Monday, September 4. Police at Jinja road station have arrested one of their own officers for allegedly shooting his wife dead on Tuesday evening. The incident happened at the police barracks in Kampala when the suspect allegedly shot his wife identified as Atino Jennifer, a police officer attached to Very Important Person Protection Unit of Police (VIPPU). The cause of shooting is not yet established. The suspect is currently detained at Jinja Road Police Division awaiting interrogation,” Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Mr Patrick Onyango said in a Tuesday, September 5 statement.
