The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) customs officials in Pakwach have impounded an ambulance, bearing registration number UBD 512X and attached to Koboko Hospital, for transporting smuggled cigarettes. The vehicle was intercepted at URA’s checkpoint in Pakwach on a Sunday. The driver, identified as Nobert Abukwa, was arrested after the officials discovered several packs of super match cigarettes concealed within the ambulance.

Police in the Greater Bushenyi and Rubirizi regions have arrested a 40-year-old man, identified as Owoyesigyire Denis, a resident of Munyonyi II “A” cell in Rubirizi district for the murder of his wife and three children on September 9. According to the police, the suspect returned home late at night, under the influence of alcohol, and engaged in a heated argument with his 28-year-old wife, Musimenta Asanasi. “He grabbed a machete and attacked his wife, inflicting fatal wounds to her head and hands, resulting in her immediate demise,” said the police.
