The Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) Chief Political Commissar Maj. Gen. Henry Matsiko has urged youth to embrace unity and love in order to kick backwardness out of Africa. 50 Multiplex employees petition Lukwago over abuse of their rights.

Over 50 employees from the Multiplex Limited Parking have petitioned the Kampala city Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago seeking for his intervention in their claim of unfair treatment and abuse of their rights. The petition which was handed over to the Lukwago at City Hall raised a number of complaints including non-remittance of National Social Security Fund (NSSF), unfair deductions of wages, unpaid leaves including maternity and sick leaves. “We are here to talk to the Lord Mayor and we believe that at least some of the issues we have raised will be worked upon as soon as possible. Fear in Masaka as volunteer security officer is killed

Residents in Masaka district are living in fear after a well-known volunteer security officer identified as Bashir Matovu was hacked to death near his home. Matovu, a resident of Bisanje West village in Kimanya Kabonera division, Masaka City had left his home at about 6:30pm when he was attacked by machete welding assailants. He was then found dead, lying in a pool of blood, hours later. The deceased’s wife Maria Nalusiba said that she had not seen him since about 6pm that evening nor heard back from him. Matovu was well known around the village for volunteering to patrol the locality and daunt criminals from attacking the residents.
