The Police Advisory Committee has recommended IP Cheptegei Joshua who broke four (4) World Records in long distance running competitions, for promotion to his next rank of ASP. Kenyan Peres Jepchirchir lowered her own women’s-only world record, while Ugandan track star Joshua Cheptegei was beaten at the world half marathon championships in Gdynia, Poland on Saturday. Jepchirchir lowered her mark by 18 seconds, clocking 1:05:16 to win by two seconds over German Melat Kejeta. On Sept. 5, Jepchirchir, 27, took 37 seconds off Ethiopian Netsanet Gudeta‘s mark from 2018. The top six women on Saturday all went faster than Gudeta’s old world record. 7 months after closure due to COVID-19, schools reopen with preventive measures Schools in several African countries reopened Monday after over seven months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.  The reopening of schools in Uganda follows an assessment done in September by the Education Ministry in partnership with the Higher Education Council which inspected 29 universities and other higher education institutions to ascertain their readiness. “We are ready to start teaching and learning with respect to the safety protocols. Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei smashed the men's 10,000 metres world record on Wednesday at the Valencia World Record Day, crossing the line in a stunning 26 minutes 11.02 seconds. Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei broke the men’s 10,000m world record at the Valencia World Record Day on Wednesday evening whilst Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey broke the women's 5,000m world record. The 30-year-old has been one of the key players for the 13-time league champions AFC Leopards goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan has extended his stay at the club for a year.  The Uganda shot-stopper joined Ingwe in July 2019, signing an initial one year contract.
