By Muhimbise George Dear Gen Muhozi, receive my warm greetings and congratulations upon your 48th birthday. The thousands of Ugandans that turned up for your birthday made a big statement and indeed they demonstrated their love for you! From the actions of your promoters like Baram, Andrew Mwenda and others, which you have never publicly denied, it is evident that you harbor ambitions to lead Uganda and for avoidance of any doubt, it is a constitutional right which you are entitled to. For that matter therefore, the thousands of people who came to Lugogo did not only come because they love you but also because of the hopes they have in you as their upcoming leader. And indeed, many of us who have lived under one President were enthusiastic to hear what an aspiring leader brings on tab...

SOCIETIES GET LEADERS THEY DESERVE: THE FATE OF UGANDA UNDER MUSEVENI’s MISRULE

FEATURED, Latest News, Politics
By Muhimbise George The legendary adage that every society gets the leaders it deserves defines Uganda's political trajectory & for once I seem to agree that Museveni is the leader we deserve. I feel sorry to say that the Ugandan population remains the most foolish citizenry that any politician would wish to have. Today the prices of essential commodities have shot up & government has declared to have no solution. Karamoja & Teso are on fire because of cattle rustling. Ugandans have been chased off the streets in the name of cleaning the city. Uganda's leading agricultural export- coffee, which also employs 12 million people, has been handed over to an Italian cone woman in a dubious agreement signed by the government & a brief case Company. The farmers in over 50 distric...

He was a brilliant debater, whose eloquence wit and charm won the day, time and time again. His contributions to the restoration of multi-party democracy, as the leader of the official opposition, combined with his track record and impressive credentials made Mwai Kibaki the natural choice for selection as the opposition consensus candidate against my own candidature in 2002 .” Kenyatta also directed that Kenyan flag to be flown at half-mast beginning today until Kib...

If we all speak for our tribes, who will speak for Uganda?

FEATURED, Latest News, NEWS, Politics
By Muhimbise George The death of former Speaker Jacob Oulanya opened the debate of tribalism, sectarianism & nepotism. It was indeed the ugly truth that we must contend with! After Oulanya's death, the MPs from Acholi, Lango and WestNile unanimously demanded that the next Speaker must be from the north lest they would boycott the voting exercise! Although the matter was resolved and they turned up to vote for a non northerner, am sure that whatever was given or promised to them was merely a pain killer and not a medicine to their problem. Ofcourse, the MPs from the North were neither the first nor the last to make such a demand, and so one can't simply blame them without understanding their context. The bakiga from Kabale demanded that the next governor be a Mukiga simply because...

The Justices were Deputy Chief Justice Richard Buteera, Justice Catherine Bamugemereire, and Justice Irene Mulyagonja.
