Huawei ICT Competition is a competitive ICT talent exchange program developed globally for university, college and TVET students. This aims to promote the healthy development of the ICT talent ecosystem and support the integration of industry and education. Launched in the African region just six years ago, the Competition has developed into the largest ICT skills competition in Africa and the world at large. The final will start with an opening ceremony on Friday 17th June 2022, then Saturday 18th June will be the examination day where the exercise will be conducted for five hours (written and lab exam). Primah Kwagala wins European Union Human Rights award 2022.

A human rights lawyer and executive director of the Women’s Probono Initiative, Primah Kwagala, 34, is the 2022 winner of the European Union Human Rights Defenders’ award. The award is given annually by the EU member states and the Embassy of Norway to recognize an outstanding contribution by a human rights defender who often works in difficult circumstances in Uganda. Yudaya Nangonzi attended the event at the residence of the ambassador of Belgium in Kololo last week. An individual eligible for the award is nominated by another person or human rights organization active in the country. Gordon Bafaki, the former member of parliament for Kazo County is dead. Bafaki died in an accident that occurred in Kiwatule, along the Kampala Northern bypass, on Tuesday night. According to a traffic report by Kira road police, Bafaki was travelling in a Land Cruiser TX registration number, UBD 965E when he collided with a Mercedes Benz trailer registration number, KBZ 539Z. Faridah Nampiima, the spokesperson of the Directorate of Traffic Police said Bafaki's vehicle knocked down the rear body of the moving trailer and the lone occupant died instantly. Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) led by it’s Spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye Thursday led a section of journalists to Luwero District where a one Kabonge Umar Achobe had established a training and recruitment camp for Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). According to Kulayigye, this camp was discovered by UPDF in Kabonge’s compound at his home located in Kikubajinja cell, Kasaana parish in Luwero District. ”He was using his home as a store for his deadly explosives but also a school for terror activities and lessons,” said Kulayigye.
