The Minister for Health has revealed that government will start the implementation of the malaria vaccine at end of 2023. Dr. Ruth Aceng made this revelation while responding to prayers in a motion urging government to strengthen efforts to prevent, control and eliminate transmission of malaria in Uganda. “We are ready for implementation of the malaria vaccine. It may be introduced at the end of next year and is mainly for children. It is not 100 per cent effective but we appreciate that it could bring the burden of malaria down,” Aceng said. The High Court in Tororo has sentenced Richard Ojore, a former MP aspirant for Tororo North County to 50 years in jail after being convicted for murdering Sinambio Oketcho, the Mukuju sub county National Resistence Movement (NRM) Registrar during the NRM party primaries in 2020. A teacher of Bufumira primary school yesterday Monday drowned in a swimming pool at Pearl Gardens Beach, Kalangala islands. According to an eyewitness Margaret Namanda, the incident happened between 5:30 pm and 6 pm. "Nakyejwe dived into the swimming pool to join three other swimmers. But after three minutes, the swimmers alerted the guide that Nakyejwe was at the bottom of the pool," says Namanda. Namanda further explains that the guide who was standing at the poolside dived into the pool and with help of the swimmers removed Nakyejwe from the swimming pool.
