Chameleone Denies Joining Muntu’s ANT Party After Rejection By Bobi Wine’s NUP

By Our Reporter

Singer turned politician Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has refuted allegations that he decided to join Rtd. Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntu’s Alliance for National Transformation party after he was rejected by legislator Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP).

It should be noted that Chameleone was denied an opportunity to contest for the Kampala Lord Mayor seat on NUP ticket in the 2021 General Election after the party endorsed Kawempe North MP Latiff Ssebagala, who has since stepped down, as its flag bearer.

Following the rejection, Chameleone, who was also rejected by Norbert Mao’s Democratic Party, has not yet announced whether he will contest as an Independent candidate or join another party.

However, rumours are flying over that he has since decided to enter into a political marriage with Mugisha Muntu’s ANT, in a bid to farther his political ambitions and posters indicating that he is contesting on ANT ticket have started circulating all over social media.

But in in response to this, Chameleone, via his official Facebook page, distanced himself from the posters saying that they are being spread by people with ill intentions.

“Don’t believe such propaganda that is here to disturb our vision. THIS POSTER IS FAKE!” Chameleone wrote on Facebook.

Following his denial of not joining ANT, Chameleone, who hopes to oust the incumbent Kampala Lord Mayor Hajji Elias Lukwago, is yet to announce his next move.

In case he goes ahead with his political ambitions, Chameleone is likely to face off not only with Lukwago but also National Resistance Movement (NRM’s) Daniel Kazibwe aka Ragga Dee and outgoing Kampala Woman MP Nabilah Naggayi Sempala, who also want the same position.
