Gov’t suspends operation of NGOs due to non compliance

Government has indefinitely suspended the operation of Nicholas Opiyo’s Chapter Four and Mira Matembe’s CCEDU NGOs. The Ministry of Internal affairs claims the Human rights and Election monitoring NGOs did not file annual returns and audited books of accounts The ministry explains that the NGO board noted with great concern the increasing fraudulent practices involving some NGOs and members of the general public.
