Cheptegei, who has exhibited an outstanding performance  this year and all throughout his career,  has been nominated for Male Athlete of the Year 2020 and all it will take him to win is his fans voting  for him. The Police Advisory Committee has recommended IP Cheptegei Joshua who broke four (4) World Records in long distance running competitions, for promotion to his next rank of ASP. The IGP who is the Chairperson of the PAC made the announcement to honor the athlete on Wednesday, 21.10.2020 during the meeting. He in addition, tasked the Director of Logistics and Engineering to allocate a Double Cabin Pick-up and a Coaster Mini-bus to the Police Athletics team to support their training in Kapchorwa in fulfillment of his earlier pledge. By Our Reporter Ugandan gold medalist Joshua Cheptegei has been promoted by the Police Appointments Committee (PAC) to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). The revelation was made by the Police deputy spokesperson Polly Namaye, who said that Police officials on Police Appointments Committee (PAC) made the promotion recommendation to the President, who is endorsing it any time. "The Police Advisory Committee (PAC) has recommended IP Joshua Cheptegei who broke four world records in long distance competitions, for promotion to his next rank of ASP," Namaye noted on Monday. Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei smashed the men's 10,000 metres world record on Wednesday at the Valencia World Record Day, crossing the line in a stunning 26 minutes 11.02 seconds. Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei broke the men’s 10,000m world record at the Valencia World Record Day on Wednesday evening whilst Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey broke the women's 5,000m world record.
