Museveni Hails Kiplimo On Winning World Half Marathon

By Our Reporter President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has congratulated Ugandan athlete Jacob Kiplimo upon winning the World Half Marathon in Gadenya, Poland. Shortly after Kiplimo was announced winner of the world record breaking title, President Museveni tweeted thus; “Congratulations to you Jacob Kiplimo on winning Gold for Uganda at the World Half Marathon championship. I also congratulate @joshuacheptege1 and the rest of the team; the Ugandan Flag has been raised so high.” Kiplimo has won the World Half Marathon title in a championship record 58:49. Jacob Kiplimo Wins Rome 3000m Race

Jacob Kiplimo has broken Moses Kipsiro’s national record (7:30.95) in the 3000m after winning an intriguing Rome Diamond League race Thursday night. The 19-year-old Ugandan beat Jacob Ingesbrigtsen on the home straight to claim the victory. Ingesbrigtsen crossed in 7:27.05, also a Norwegian record while Australian Stewart McSweyn came third in 7:28.02. The former junior world cross country champion’s 7:26.64 is a new national record over that distance and it is also the fastest time since 2007. Kiplimo’s victory comes barely ten days after winning the 5000m at Golden Spike meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Inspired by Joshua Cheptegei's 5,000m world record performance in Paris a couple of weeks ago, Jacob Kiplimo defied fitness doubts to win the 5,000m at the 59th Ostrava Golden Spike in the Czech Republic. He won in a meet record time of 12:48:63. It was an incredible recovery from Kiplimo, who looked gone on halfway. In Manchester, Kiplimo hit the front early and never looked back as he came home in a time of 27:31 - the fourth-fastest time for 10km on the roads last year.
