By Keefa Nuwahereza The Commissioner General of Uganda Prisons Services (UPS) Johnson Byabashaija, has unceremoniously suspended the Officer In Charge of Moroto Prisons Norman Aruho, following the escape of over 200 prisoners who escaped last month from Moroto Prison, with 14 guns. Frank Baine, the Uganda Prisons Spokesperson, said  Aruho was suspended together with his Deputy, Joseph Angwandia until investigations into the prison break are completed by a team set by the Commissioner-General. “Yes, he is serving suspension until investigations are completed. COVID-19 Shock: Prison Warden Shoots Inmate Dead

By Elite News Reporter The Uganda Police and Uganda Prisons Services are investigating circumstances under which a prison warden shot an inmate dead at Muimet government prison in Bukwo District. According to sources at the prison, the deceased, Alex Kitei, 26, was a resident of Kapngokin village, Chepsoikei parish, Riwo sub-county in Bukwo District. The Officer in charge of Muimet prison Francis Okuku, said the deceased was shot as he tried to escape into a maize plantation when the inmates had been taken to  ease themselves. This Website has established that at least 199 inmates and 24 Prisons officers were on Wednesday quarantined at Kaiti prison in Namutumba District for 14 days, after a former inmate tested positive for COVID-19.
