The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is ravaged by internal wars, which have since seen the party leaders expel all renegade members who are contesting as Independent candidates in the 2021 elections.
Among those who have been expelled from the FDC is Rtd Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye’s blue-eyed gal Ingrid Turinawe, who is contesting for the position of Woman Member of Parliament for Rukungiri District as an Independent candidate.
According to a letter issued by Budadiri West Member of Parliament Nathan Nandala Mafabi, who is the FDC Secretary General, other candidates who have been expelled include; Ms. Winnie Babihuga and Mr. Julius Tweyambe.

Nandala’s letter, headed ‘DISMISSAL OF INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES, written on December 7th, 2020 to the Rukungiri FDC Chairperson, reads in part thus;
“As per Article 12d(Cessation; “If a member joins another party or in an election stands as an Independent” ceases to be a member of FDC. Therefore the following are not members;
- Ms. Ingrid Turinawe
- Ms. Winnie Babihuga
- Mr. Tweyambe Julius
The FDC flagbearer are:
- Dr. Wallen Nuwagaba Tumwine-Rukungiri Municipality
- Hon. Betty Muzanira- Woman MP Rukungiri
- Hon. Fred Turyamuhweza- Rujumbura Constituency
- Mr. Namanya Naboth- Rubabo County
The FDC members and Party structures in Rukungiri are only to solicit support for party candidates.”
Nandala adds that; “Any member of the Party who campaigns for an Independent or otherwise shall be dismissed from the Party.
The Independent candidates should immediately stop using the FDC sign and colours otherwise we shall advise the Electoral Commission to disqualify them…”
