Fear As COVID-19 Invades NRM Secretariat, 17 Staff Quarantined After Two Tested Positive

By Our Reporter

Untold fear has engulfed the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretariat at Plot 11 Kyadondo Road, after two Staff tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Wednesday afternoon.

This was revealed by the NRM spokesperson Rogers Mulindwa through a statement he released last night, in which he revealed that so far 17 people have been put under institutional quarantine and that all other staff are to undergo mandatory COVID-19 testing .

Mulindwa’s statement reads thus; “Following an announcement by the Rt. Hon. Secretary General that two of our staff tested positive of Covid-19, an urgent meeting has been convened between the Secretariat Top Management and the National Incident Management Team headed by Dr. Monica Musenero.

After a thorough analysis of the risk and exposure of members of this office, two staff have been taken under isolation and 17 others designated as high risks have been put under institutional quarantine for 14 days. Starting tomorrow (Thursday), there is going to be strict observance of the SOPs to minimise exposure and risk.

The entire premises will undergo disinfection this Wednesday evening. All staff that didn’t test on Monday will undergo a Covid-19 test tomorrow (Thursday).”

However, this comes at a time when several NRM officials are returning nomination forms to the Secretariat ahead of the 2021 general election.
