Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja launched the Huawei DigiTruck Project in her home district of Kakumiro yesterday Sunday, 28 th April, 2024 at colorful event attended in large numbers by students, youth, parents and various district officials. The launch was held at the Kakumiro District Headquarter grounds. At the launch the Prime Minister urged the people of Kakumiro to embrace such initiatives from the Uganda government with key partners like Huawei Technologies Uganda. The Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) has reported a significant 19% improvement in overall performance in the November/December 2023 examinations compared to the same period in 2022. This announcement was made by UBTEB’s Executive Secretary, Onesmus Oyesigye, during the release of the November/December 2023 results. Out of the 4344 candidates who took the examinations, an impressive 4059 candidates successfully demonstrated proficiency in their respective trades. Breaking down the results by gender, 89.5% of the 832 female candidates acquired all competencies, while 94.4% of the 3512 male candidates achieved the same feat. Police in Sheema district are investigating circumstances under which a pit-latrine collapsed on a Senior Six Candidate at Kitagata Secondary School a few hours to his Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams. The deceased was identified as Caption Rwamamanzi, 23, a Senior Six student with a subject combination of Physics, Economics, Mathematics, and Information Computer Technology (ICT) at Kitagata SSS in Kitagata Town Council, Sheema District. There is panic among parents and leaders after Wobulenzi Public Primary School in Luwero district was put on sale over failure to repay a loan. In 2019, Richard Mukasa former headteacher with the approval of the office of Luwero Chief Administrative Officer acquired a loan of 100 million Shillings from Equity Bank, Luwero branch. Mukasa mortgaged the land title of the government school to acquire the loan to buy a plot and construct staff houses. The school has 2, 300 pupils under Universal Primary Education and it has the biggest population of learners in the district. The Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) have kicked off this morning across the country with 749,347 candidates slated to participate in this year’s PLE. The examination schedule for PLE candidates has begun with mathematics this morning and will shift to social studies in the afternoon. Tomorrow, candidates will sit for their English and science papers. The examinations will take place in 14,442 centers, encompassing both government Universal Primary Education (UPE) schools and non-UPE schools.
