If there is a time Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Francis Zake, will remember, it is June 3, 2023. Zake was at the Catholic Shrine Saturday for the Martyrs Day commemoration. However, he had a cracked trouser. So, he spent more time using his phone to guard the cracked pants around his right thigh than praying. While his boss, the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine may have not noticed, the cameras did. However after he noticed cameras around his thigh, he shifted the phone to guard duties.

The picturesque county of Kabujogera in Kitagwenda witnessed an exhilarating bicycle race yesterday, as the Tooro Kingdom, in partnership with MTN Uganda, hosted a thrilling event that left residents buzzing with excitement. The race, aimed at promoting sports talent and raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, received overwhelming support from the community. A total of 26 skilled riders, including 19 manual bike riders and 7 sports bike riders, fearlessly maneuvered through a challenging 30-kilometer route. The cyclists braved the rugged roads, pedaling their way from Kabujogera town council to Ntara and back. The race winners were crowned amidst cheers and applause. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has said Al-shabaab militants killed 54 Ugandan soldiers including the commander during a recent attack in somalia. The president disclosed this to the ruling national resistance movement (NRM) MPs retreat at the national leadership institute-kyankwanzi. The president however did not give specific details regarding casualties, prisoners of war, or missing soldiers serving under the African union transition mission in Somalia (atmis). The nomination of candidates to contest in the by-election for Chairperson, Bukedea District will be conducted starting today, Monday 5th June 2023. During this exercise, the Commission will also nominate candidates to contest for positions of Councillors in Local Government Councils in Bukedea District where vacancies exist. The nominations will be conducted at the Office of the Returning Officer in Bukedea Town Council, starting at 9am and ending at 5pm. Uganda MTN Uganda in partnership with the Uganda Small Scale Industries Association on Friday donated sewing machines, overlock machines, sewing threads, button attachments and sewing materials, computers, printers and training to Teso Textile Light Dynamics, a tailoring enterprise in Soroti City, in the ongoing 21 Days of Y’ello Care Campaign. The MTN Uganda employees also participated in cleaning Soroti City Market as part of their contribution to the communities. The entire exercise costs UGX20 million.
