On Monday night, May 29, at approximately 8pm, the internet was awash with a video of what looked like and was later confirmed to be the artiste Pius Mayamja alias Pallaso beating up fellow artiste Alien Skin. In the video,Pallaso is heard almost inaudibly saying that this is about respect. Surely Alien Skin must have done something horrific and disrespectful. Word came out, as it usually does, that Allien Skin had showed up at Pallaso’s rehearsal session and bragged about being a big star and not needing rehearsal. Rwanda President Paul Kagame has embarked on a major shakeup of the country's military, with a round of dismissals announced Wednesday after the appointment of a new Defense minister, army chief and head of internal security. Army spokesman Ronald Rvivanga told local media that two long-serving generals, Maj Gen Aloys Muganga and Brig Gen Francis Mutiganda, had been sacked for "indiscipline." "According to the law, this means that they have to hand over military equipment and leave the army without any benefits, because of what they did," he said, without elaborating. Buganda Road Magistrate's court has dismissed charges of inciting violence against former presidential candidate Rtd Col Dr Kizza Besigye. The charges were instituted a year ago following protests that Besigye led against commodity prices that were skyrocketing at the time. The rising inflation which started in November 2021, saw fuel prices increase by over Shs 2,000 per litre while edible oil prices almost doubled. Court heard that on May 24, 2022, while at Arua Park in Kampala Central Division without lawful excuse at an assembly, Besigye made statements implying that it would be desirable to demonstrate, an act that was reportedly calculated to lead to destruction or damage to property. The head teacher of Old Kampala senior secondary school, Williams Ssuuna has blamed the police for failing to act in time to prevent students from taking part in a 'smoking festival'. Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson on Tuesday reported that Lubigi police conducted a raid on a house in Kibulooka, Nansana West Ward where they arrested 54 students following complaints from residents about excessive noise. Owoyesigyire said the students including 8 girls were found in possession of various intoxicating substances including khat, shisha, alcohol, and other drugs. Lubwama, who tragically passed away this morning, will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Nkozi, Mawokota, on Wednesday of next week.
