Lionel Messi seems to be making history with every passing game at the moment, and he’s going to continue tonight at El Alcoraz. Messi is set to make his 750th appearance for Barcelona against Huesca, his 500th in La Liga as per Diario Sport. Once he hits that, next in his sights will be Xavi‘s record of 767 games, 505 of which were in La Liga, between 1998 and 2015. Messi, who Ronald Koeman has called happy and prepared, needs to play just 18 more games to become the player to have played the most games in the club’s history. He’s been their leading goalscorer, with 644, for a long time, a record that’s unlikely to ever be surpassed. The 33-year-old superstar was denied a long-awaited transfer away from the Spanish giants despite making it clear that he wanted to cut short his contract and leave. However, he might find solace in the Forbes list for highest-earning footballers in 2020. Wayne Rooney Settles The Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo Debate

FEATURED, SPORTS
By Our Reporter Wayne Rooney spent many years linking up with Cristiano Ronaldo to devastating effects but he had to admit that Lionel Messi edges the debate between the two. Rooney and Ronaldo were unplayable during their period playing together at Manchester United and despite a brief rift following the 2006 World Cup, remain good friends off the pitch. Yet despite his links to the Juventus superstar, England's record goal scorer couldn't overlook the brilliance of Messi, which he witnessed in two Champions League defeats to Barcelona. "Ronaldo wasn't as focused on goals when we started playing together but you could see that all he wanted was to be the best player in the world," Rooney wrote in his Sunday Times column. "He practiced and practiced and began to produce. Cr...
