As Uganda proceeds in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus (COVID)-19 pandemic, several high profile Ugandans continue to succumb to the virus.

The latest victim of the deadly virus is Makindye Division Resident District Commissioner  (RDC) Ibrahim Kagolola, who passed away on Saturday.

Reports coming in from family members and close friends indicate that Kagolola reported ill a few days ago and was rushed to hospital but tests done on him shortly after admission confirmed that he was positive for COVID-19.

Announcing  Kagolola’s unfortunate, Hawa Ndege, the Resident City Commisisoner (RCC), said that “Another tragedy has befallen the country at the hands of Covid-19. The disease has snatched the Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) of Makindye, Ibrahim Kagolola.”

Ndege said that the late Kagolola informed her of his illness last week and that she advised him to self-isolate and seek treatment.

However, Kagolola’s situation deteriorated on Thursday and he was admitted to Mulago hospital where he passed on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Ministry of Health, Uganda has so far  registered 133 COVID-19 deaths, out of a total 14,574 cases of infection and 7,771 recoveries.
