Self Proclaimed Governor Exits Masaka Amidst Deaths

Masaka City RCC Fred Bamwiine has not survived the changes made by the Minister of Presidency Milly Babalanda on the resident district commissioners across the country.Bamwiine has been posted in the dusty to Nakaseke district, his transfer comes at a time when there is increased insecurity in the Greater Masaka region where goons have so far killed 29 people.
Locals blame security services for not doing enough to protect them from panga-wielding thugs as RDC, Bamwine served as head of the district security committee.

Uganda Police Chief Political Commissar, AIGP Asan Kasingye led a team of senior officers to hold meetings with staff from Sembabule district to galvanise security against “bijambia” criminals in the district.
The police teams will also support local authorities in terms of manpower, logistics and strengthen security.
He urged local police commanders to improve on their readiness to respond to any acts of criminality in the region.
A joint security force of police, counter terrorism personnel, military intelligence, Internal Security Organisation (ISO), Special Forces Command and experienced counter insurgency officers are camped in Masaka to investigate the shocking murders.
In response to the incidents in Masaka, Police today confirmed that they had arrested 15 suspects in connection with the killings as security intensifies in the region.
As RCC, Bamwine served as head of the district security committee, It is believed that Bamwiine’s transfer is related to his failure to deliver, most especially in the issue of security.
Bamwiine made headlines last month for his outrageous lockdown laws in Masaka city, he banned all vehicles in Masaka city center, closed all shops and arcades.
His way of doing things sparked criticism from Masaka NRM leaders who openly criticised him.
