Former Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Commissioner  for Customs, Dicksons Kateshumbwa, has caught ‘political fever’ and as you read this, he is warming up for the 2021 General elections, with intent to oust Elioda Tumwesigye from the Sheema Municipality Member of Parliament seat.

Our Moles reveal that Kateshumbwa strategically resigned his position at URA a few weeks ago, such that he could prepare ahead of time for the elections.

We are told he is currently doing ‘Digital Kakuyege’ rallying  all his friends, OBs, colleagues, former workmates and all people from Sheema through social media platforms to vote for him when the time comes, since he believes he has the potential.

Currently, posters and flyers bearing Kateshumbwa as an aspiring candidate for Sheema Municipality, on the National  Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket are being pinned all over Sheema district and others being shared on social media.

Kateshumbwa who had recently been taken to head the domestic taxes docket, said in an e-mail to staff that he had decided to end his tour of duty ahead of the contractual period with immediate effect.

Mr Katushumbwa who served for five years as the commissioner customs until early this year, didn’t say why he was leaving. He had been at the tax body for 14 years.

“I have been privileged to serve in Customs, Tax Investigations and Domestic Taxes in addition to holding the World Customs Organisation Chairmanship, Chairman Board of Trustees URA Staff Retirements Benefits Scheme, among others,” Kateshumbwa said in an e-mail.

He added he was “particularly proud of the great countless reforms implemented that transferred Customs. This experience will be greatly put to use in my next occupation.”
