Rema’s Foster artist-management ties to avoid pitfalls

Singer Rema Namakula advises artists to keep a friendly relationship with their management if they intend to last long-term in their arrangements.

In recent months, Kataleya and Kandle have dominated the gossip columns following their misunderstandings with their management. Both sides have grievances that remain unsolved.

The duo has only been in the music industry for close to three years and their fallout with management seems to have indefinitely paused their very promising career. While speaking to Sanyuka TV, Rema Namakula revealed that artists and their respective managements will always clash at different points in their careers. However, to avoid forgettable moments, both parties should lay a strong foundation of friendship before they undertake any arrangements to work together. She gave an example of her working relationship with her longtime manager Solomon Kayemba whom she claims was her good friend even while still at Gagamel before she started an independent career.

We started off as friends (with Solomon Kayemba). He even used to help me when I was still under Gagamel so when we started working together, he understood me at a friendly level.

What I know for sure, when someone is your friend, there are things they cannot do to you. Management is not easy.

Sometimes there is selfishness from either side; the artist or the management, but if someone is your friend, you both understand each other at a different level. There will always be misunderstandings but those can’t stop you from moving forward.
