Dr Besigye, who now leads a political pressure group, the People’s Front for Transition, from the cocoon of his office on Katonga Road in Nakasero, appeared to aim his salvo at Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party members who have been embroiled in fighting for leadership within the party structures.Dr Besigye, a four-time presidential candidate who now leads a political pressure group, the People’s Front for Transition, from the cocoon of his office on Katonga Road in Nakasero, appeared to aim his salvo at Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party members who have been embroiled in fighting for leadership within the party structures.”You hear people say, my blood is for FDC, no; your blood should be for a new Uganda,” Besigye said during the send-off prayers organized for singer Adam Mulwana, who died on Tuesday.
Mulwana famously recorded the a hit, Toka Kwa Barabara, for FDC’s 2016 general elections. The song got Besigye and the Opposition dancing throughout campaign tours as they used the message in it to rally voters to kick President Museveni off the road.
“Do not follow those who used Adam Mulwana, abandoned him and betrayed him. He did a lot for the good of our country let us follow his steps now that he has departed,” Besigye said.He said Ugandans no longer want to fights for political leadership within opposition but need to hear news of change they have waited for over 40 years.
“FDC is an an address, it’s not a building or anything of that sort,” he said. “The FDC I know is that which fights for a new Uganda not the one located in Najjanankumbi.”
He has called upon Opposition players to pick a leaf from political life of the late Mulwana if they want change.
A deep division broke FDC into two with the side loyal to Besigye now using Katonga Road while Najjankumbi remains under the wings of the party’s president Patrick Amuriat and general secretary Nandala Mafabi.
The deep cracks followed allegations that some party members had betrayed the cause and we being funded by President Museveni.
