MelBet, Kyetume FC Ink Multimillion Sponsorship Deal

In a bid to support Ugandan football, MelBet Uganda has taken on the sponsorship of StarTimes Uganda Premier League club Kyetume FC, after signing a multimillion deal, that will boost the Club’s operations as they eye winning the Uganda Premier League.

This sponsorship deal will see the Mukono based team facilitated by MelBet Uganda throughout of the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League season that is set to commence on the 3rd December 2020 and continue throughout next year.

 Kyetume football club finished 11th  with 30 points from 25 games last season after the league ended prematurely due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis that forced a halt on all football activities in Uganda.

Having faced some downturns during the season and now the COVID-19 crisis, the club will benefit from MelBet’s noble gesture of supporting Uganda’s Sports through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

MelBet will support Kyetume FC on the acquisition of the season’s match and training kits, Welfare of players, talent development and other operational expenses.

The Partnership has been defined as a marriage that will see the two parties work together for the long term on an undisclosed amount inclusive of a revenue share.

While speaking at the launch of this sponsorship during a press conference that was held at MelBet Uganda offices in Nakawa, Kampala, Yasin Asiimwe, the company Chief Operating Officer (COO) said that; “It’s not a mistake for MelBet Uganda to partner with Kyetume FC. We as a company reached a decision to partner with Kyetume FC after observing their astounding performance and reaching a onclusion that this is a very ambitious team with a goal to top the Uganda Premier League.”

He added that; “We decided that since Kyetume FC is team with a very promising future, me should grow with them, through supporting the Club, hence this partnership, which we have dubbed a ‘marriage’, which has come with a multimillion dowry package in form of sponsorship !”

On his part, commenting about this newfound partnership with MelBet Uganda, Rauben Mubiru, who was flanked by the team’s Technical Director and Ugandan soccer legend Jackson Mayanja,  appreciated MelBet Uganda for the partnership, assuring the company that this marriage will not end in a divorce.

“I thank God for this great opportunity, because we are highly privileged to be in this partnership with MelBet Uganda. This has come to happen after a long period of discussion and negotiation,” Lauben Mubiru, the president of Kyetume FC said.

He added that; “Kyetume FC started in 1970 and it was being sponsored by the abattoir, locally known as Lufula,  and that was how we got our nickname; ‘The Slaughters’     

However, over the years we have evolved into a formidable soccer team that came into the Uganda Premier League and is now bent on winning    it!”
