Police in Kamuli are hunting for a 50 year old man currently on the run for killing his lover on allegations of removing his pregnancy.
The suspect Yoweri Mugaya stabbed an unidentified woman at his residence in Bulyampande village, Butansi sub-county, Kamuli district on Tuesday morning.
Eyewitnesses allege that the chic who was not known to all neighbors as she occasionally visited Mugaya, had a deep-heated fight with him moments before he cut her life short.
During the fight, Mugaya accused his girlfriend of aborting their seven-month pregnancy without his consent.
Mugaya used a sharp machete to stab his victim multiple times in the neck, chest, and abdomen before fleeing the scene.
Locals who attempted to rescue her arrived at the scene after the suspect had already fled, and rushed the victim to Kamuli General Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The Busoga North police spokesperson, Michael Kasadha, confirmed the incident and added that a team of investigators has been dispatched to hunt down the suspect.
Kasadha also said that efforts to identify the deceased are ongoing to ensure a proper burial after the post-mortem process is complete.
