Tumukunde crowned miss Uganda 2023.

Hannah Tumukunde yesterday 18th March 2023 was crowned the new Miss Uganda turning down other 20 beauty competitors to the crown.
Tumukunde, from Nakaseke, belonged to the Central Region pool and came up strongest, ahead of her close competitors Ademun Whitney Martha and Premah Agwang who finished 1st and 2nd runners up respectively.
“Thank you, GOD. The crown is finally home, I have been crowned Miss Uganda 2023. Thank you all for voting for me,” she added
Tumukunde took over from Elizabeth Bagaya who was crowned in April 2021 where she also took over from Oliver Nakakande before she later left the country to pursue her studies.
Also among the top five contestants included; Jerusha Muwanguzi and Jessica Sserwada.
Capt Mike Mukula who is the patron of the Miss Uganda Pageant thanked the organisers for their resilience, adding that over the years, the pageant has been faced with challenges including the covid-19 pandemic, but they have not given up.
Due to The COVID-19 pandemic, Miss Uganda had been last held in July 2019, where Oliver Nakakande was crowned the winner.
It returned with a glamorous red carpet event on Saturday that was attended by the elite in the celebrity world.
Tumukunde has been rewarded with Toyota Wish, and she will represent Uganda at the Miss World competitions in Dubai while her 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up have also won a scholarship to Uganda’s Aviation Academy.
