There is extreme fear and panic among residents of Luwunga and Lwanyonyi villages in Nama village Mukono district after the machete wielding assailants attacked the village and killed one person.
The deceased is identified as Moses Muhumuza (35) who had just come from Kabwohe to Mukono to see his mother Maria Kulumba a resident of Nama 10.
Muhumuza was last seen on 2nd/9/2021 evening when he was given Shs 1000 to buy Airtime but when he went he didn’t come back.
“When he went to buy Airtime he didn’t come back I thought he slept at her aunt’s place, but I was shocked to hear from police officers that my son has been killed”
Said Ms Kulumba.
The residents have asked the government to abolish curfew in the area, so that they create their own security teams to oversee the security of the area.
“Government should allow us to form our own village teams to keep law and order,” said the residen
Among the Victims is the Nama sub county chairperson John Bosco Isabirye, who was attacked and cut on the head.
Isabirye mobilized residents to buy Spears and Machetes to defend themselves in case they were attacked.
In the nearby Lwanyonyi village assailants have started throwing warning leaflets and letters into their area, a thing that has caused tension among the residents.
Leaflets written bearing warnings were dropped in Lwanyonyi trading center the previous night.
They are written on “Ba sebo ne banyabo tujja mwetegeke mugira munywa soda oyo gwe tubawadde,” Ladies and gentlemen we are coming get ready, you can as well enjoy that soda”
The Mukono North member of Parliament Abdallah Kiwanuka, called upon security organs to intervene in the matter
“Let security organs come and investigate the matter otherwise Masaka incidents started like this” Kiwanuka noted
Police in Mukono later came with it’s sniffer dog that went up to one of the homes and they found it when the owner was not around.
The body was taken to Kawolo hospital mortuary for postmortem.
