By Elite Reporter Human rights activists in Uganda have come out to demand  the unconditional release of  Maj. Steven Rwakanuma, who is currently in detention at Makindye Military barracks, after he was arrested for allegedly possessing illegal arms and aiding Tanzanians to enter Uganda despite the COVID-19 lockdown. Maj. Rwakanuma was arrested last week by the army and the police over allegations possession of a  firearm and abuse of office through allegedly aiding Tanzanians to cross into Uganda during the COVID-19 lockdown. By Keefa Nuwahereza A senior Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF)  officer at the rank of Major is currently hospitalized and battling for his  life after he was clobbered by goons while he was enforcing the COVID-19 curfew in Kyankwanzi District on Tuesday May 26th, 2020. According to sources, Maj. Maj. Robert Nkwasibwe was rushed to Hoima referral hospital unconscious after being attacked by goons late in the night during a patrol with fellow officers. Brig.
