Suspected cabbage thief killed in Sheema.

The unknown man in his 20s has been murdered in Sheema district for stealing cabbages.
The incident happened in Mailo cell, Kyempisi West ward, Shuuku in Sheema district on 6th June 2023 at around 11am. The deceased was wearing a blue short and black T-shirt with one missing tooth in his upper jaw.
On 6th June at around 8am, the deceased went to St Paul’s High School and stole cabbages from the school garden but was followed by the school watchman who arrested him on his way to town where he wanted to sell them.
The watchman took the victim to the school but found students already angry and started assaulting the victim, they left him into coma. He was later taken to Shuuku Police station though the OC station refused to admit him into custody because he was in bad condition; he was taken to Shuuku Health Center IV where he was later pronounced dead.
The Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson SP Martial Tumusiime confirmed the incident stressing that a case file was opened up vide Sheema CRB 402/2023 for investigations, scene of crime was visited by a team of detectives with Socco who examined it then the body was at Shuuku Health Center IV mortuary pending Postmortem.
Police findings indicate that the mob action was a result of the previous thefts of school properties by unknown people; the body had many deep cut wounds on the legs, arms and other parts of the body.
SP Tumusiime said police are tracing for the relatives of the deceased to take the body for burial as police inquiries into the matter continue.
